Gotta Love Lent

That 2 filet-o-fish deal is awesome. They are, aside from McMuffins, the best thing to eat at the Arches. Some people however, take the religion thing too far.

the customer crawled out of his car and into the drive thru window to get his fish sandwich...

I'm Not Sure What You're Eating...

...But fiscal responsibility sure isn't it. Though that does sound delicious, the responsibility that is. Too bad that there is a lot of traffic generated, and my flimsy excuse for a computer cant get to the website right now.

aside...One thing I do not tolerate is smut. No questions, no answers, I think the whole industry is flat out wrong. Except for the 80 year old woman mashing potatoes with her feet. Good luck finding those videos bitches.

I guess this broke with this website and it's bow-tied author.

Back to the point.

Steele has come under steady fire for his financial stewardship of the organization. The RNC had more than $22 million on hand when Steele arrived last year, but is down to under $10 million now despite raising $96 million during that time

This is why I tore up my party card a bunch of years ago. W, whom I voted for with hindsight being 20/20, created the largest bureaucracy in US history. Now, this party runs on cutting spending?

Where are the cuts in your own party pal?

$1,946.25 to Voyeur in West Hollywood for, uh, meals. Meals, huh? And quite a menu they have at Voyeur, according to write-ups in the Los Angeles Times about the new club

Do you remember the post I made about hypocrites? Me either. I will leave you with this to roll around in your head for a while.

The RNC spent more than $17,000 on private jet travel in February as well as nearly $13,000 for limousines and car services

That is one month. It's Good to see all of the money donated by these idiots people is going to the right place.

One thing this week. I am tired and don't really care about your weekly ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day. Believe it folks.

Too Bad

There is this too. Good luck driving north...And too bad that there isn't anything up there.

My take? If the current gov., and Gov. of the state now did not rob the transportation fund in every year that he was in office, and the needed construction was done at the time of necessity, this would not clog up the busiest freeway interchange in the state.

Here is a PDF of a statement from the mayor at the time. 2005. Thought I bet his intentions were really good and his knowledge of the situation were equal, here is the money quote.

"Unlike the Marquette Interchange, the Zoo Interchange will stand long enough for us to resolve these issues."

Yes, I don't travel north via that interchange all that often, why would I want to commune with those northern people? But the shipping industry, by truck that is, will be seriously impeded. So that means my job will become more difficult.

And that makes me angry.

TV or not TV

For those of my 5 readers who watch too much TV, I have this. But there is this widget. For all of the avid fans. Or this Blog, for the really avid fans. Myself, I have not watched a singe episode. I know from things I hear that it was running down anyway. So there's that.

Pitching and Crying

Not as a result of this post, Schoenweis went and got himself not so released today.

The only regret I have is that I wasted a month of my time, Schoeneweis said. I didn't have a chance to make the team

Cry buddy...this guy has given up more than one run an inning to date, albeit spring ball. You can see this list for the details.

It's just ironic that I can't get a job because my wife died. It doesn't make much sense to me

I am truly sorry for your loss sir, but the numbers don't add up, as far as the career path you have chosen.

Schoeneweis had a 7.71 ERA, but that number can be particularly deceptive in Spring Training for left-handed specialists because they are not used in lefty-on-lefty situations like they would be in the regular season

Really? When you are a "big league pitcher..." for 12 years, you clearly know your roll. Your roll is to be average, if not less than. If not to be a pile of suck.

I know 100 percent that I am a big league pitcher, bottom line

Good luck pal. I get that your wife died. That really isn't something that anyone should have to deal with. But that is not the reason for your shitty performance. That is not the reason for your "release." Am I an asshole for looking at the numbers?

People Who Play Music Despite the Cold

For this semi-regular installment, I went hunting around the internets for bands from my fair city. There are the obvious like the Bodeans, who are like nails on a chalkboard. And the Femmes. Here are some others, perhaps more modern.

Emo, or hipster. Whatever you pick...

Good?

More Emo? Jesus, you'd think we were depressed...

The live ones all suck. But My buddy partied with them once in Madison. That was a long time ago.

They used to come to my college all the time. The one guy was cool...

As far as 90's pop goes, they were the best. the one CD I have from them is still good.

There are these too.

Where Is the Albatross?

Here is a post from Brewers guy...

Let me be clear. I don't like him, and think he is the equivalent of Darth Vader. But he is the person at spring training so he is the only person I have to comment on. What with Tony Witrado adjusting his hat and all.

He alludes to the fact that Chris Narveson will make a showing so as to stay on track. This indicates a starting position.

My question is...Where is the 12 million dollar necklace around the owner's neck? And where is the highly touted lefty who can't find his head? Not that I want soupcan in the rotation, and not that I want to get rid of Parra. But where do these players fit in as the former makes too much money, and the latter has no options.

Yes...I reference myself, but I think myself is an intelligent referencer.

Comments

So Brewers guy had this to say after today's spring game. No offense, but I already alluded to the abundance of lefty's in camp.

There is a strong possibility that I am an idiot.

But the fact remains that there are already going to be two, possibly three, left handers in the rotation. No question. If I am wrong, I owe each and every one(all 3) of you readers a dollar. Or beer.

But this comment, after 30 seconds of reading the post, stood out.

"I cant believe I am saying this... but if the end of last season and ST are any indication, Narveson needs to be in the starting rotation."

Really? You want this to happen? Sometimes, it is very difficult to think about what you are saying...and I get that. But a career minor league pitcher in a rotation already full of lefty's who seem to be suspect at best?

Maybe I will remember to do this more often. Comment people at the daily always come up with fodder for ridicule.

Also, do I sound negative? When my focal point is the rotation/pitching, I choose to look at the situation with a realist point of view. As noted in the link above, I don't believe that the staff that has been put together is ready to win a division. The starters are, aside from Gallardo, a collection of players who had a couple of decent years in a mixed bag of injuries and crappy records.

But, and this is a big but, the bullpen should be sound.

Know It, Love It

So it looks like Gallardo wants (2 links) the ball opening day, officially marking him the best pitcher on the staff. Brewers Guy then goes on to say that Randy Wolf and Doug Davis will follow. Call me nuts, but 2 lefties in a row is kind of crazy. Kind of unorthodox. Kind of dumb. Yes...I may make some people mad with this idea...But the two lefties thrown out there are kind of redundant don't you think? Except for the fact that Wolf has a history of injury, WHIP and ERA+ are basically equal. Both are average. Yes I am cherry picking.

Make no mistake...And call me a pessimist(I call it being a realist) all you want...Offense wins in the regular season, but pitching wins in the second season.

They
will contend for the division, and I hope they win it. But rebuilding a starting staff around one injury prone question mark and another average pitcher, both lefties, does not a playoff team make.

I hope I am wrong.

Rotation

With three lefty's already gracing the starting pitcher pool, Brewers Guy has set his sights on a career minor league player. He says that there will be a tough decision to bring Narveson north. He says that The Manager would like an experienced lefty in the pen(in not so many words). Tell you what, and this is my answer to the whole pitching issue. Not old. Why not throw them against the wall and see what sticks?

So you want 2 lefty's in the bullpen? Well you already have one in this guy, who will be a good lefty reliever for a few years..So why is he in camp? If Narveson is so good, why keep the retread around?

I get the whole depth argument. But if you are worried about starting pitchers, why not keep an honest to goodness swing man in the pen, rather than a 35 year old career reliever. For god's sake, you have a three lefty rotation as it is, instead of solid young pitching. I didn't say that...

I also get that throwing a bunch of guys who are getting to be past their prime against the wall to see what sticks is a good idea. But...and that is a big but...don't you want to get younger and cheaper? Don't you want to find pitchers who can get better over time, turning into good players? Scott Shoenweis will not get better with age. Narveson has the potential to get better with age, and at the same time providing solid lefty protection in case of injury. Which will undoubtedly happen with a rotation made up of 1 possible ace(righty), 1 possible good lefty, and three pitchers who can't complain about their contract(righty, lefty, lefty).

Particles

Well holy shit...We top Cali in the pollution gig. Today is a great day in the history of the state. With the worst air quality since aught 5, and the possibility of normal healthy people not able to breath, I have to say I like it. On the way to work, there were some spots where I couldn't see 50 feet in front of my car. Walking back to my apt., I could see it rolling in from the lake. And now it is even worse. And my apartment smells like meat.

Another Quelude, She'll Be Back

This is a bit sick if you think about it.

More fun with graphs/charts.

Twitter serves a purpose.

Nerd humor doesn't get old.

Hours and hours.

Videos

So I saw this guy's special on Friday last. Though I had seen him on the Internets prior, I did not realize that yes...he is actually funny. If you remember correctly, he was on that show "The League." If you're like me, and like low-brow bathroom humor, than this is the comedian for you. Yes, he is Canadian. But there are a few OK ones, like Rush or Bryan Adams...no not really. They all suck.

But he also plays music...you may have heard this one.

Here are some more.

WMSE Chili Party

So the nice lady and I Decide to go to a chili cookoff today. There was a lot of really good chili. There was also a lot of shitty chili. The white and green ones stand out. The shitty ones were more of the normal red meat and bean versions. I wont bore you with those details.

Here is what stuck in my head about the whole event.

We saw a girl who looked normal. Except for two things. First, she had some of those really big garish sunglasses on her face...The event was indoors. No worries, this is the style these days. Though I think it's stupid, I get it. Second, she had a dog in her purse.

The first thing I said to the nice lady, not the dog girl, was that this is Milwaukee. This is not Southern California or New York. Or even Chicago. The second thing that I said was that I thought this fad ran out around 5 years ago.

Now look, these rat dogs were bred to go after small rodents who were trying to make there home outside the house. If you want a cat, perfect for getting said rodents on the inside, buy a cat. But dogs like this were not meant to be stuffed into purses and carried around like a trophy. If this girl had an issue with an infestation in her Gucci bag, I'm am sure that this dog would have handled it readily. And if that is the case, why buy a $400 bag infested with rodents?

This alone made me want to, if socially acceptable, go up to her and slap the lame-ass sunglasses off her face and let her know what kind of an idiot she was.

The worse part was...The bag was around her left shoulder. This lady happened to use her left hand to do things. Like buy beer, and chili. The whole time she was doing this, she was hitting the dog in the face with her elbow. That, coupled with the dog in the bag in the first place, seems like some sort of cruelty to me.

As soon as she saw this, the nice lady-not the dog lady, also wanted to go up to this person and slap the horrid sunglasses off of her face. And she cant even watch a violent movie, let alone think about doing it in person.

Here's the deal. If you want to wear your affliction/edhardy t-shirts and go to Decibal to be seen, that's fine with me. I get that it is your scene and though I will make fun of you for it, at least you can own it. At least you know what you are, and don't make excuses for it. But to have a dog in a purse and sunglasses on, inside, is acting like someone you surely are not. I dont even think Paris Hilton does that anymore, and she is the top of the line poster model for that lifestyle. I highly doubt that a girl in Milwaukee is getting paid to be an asshole.

Weighing In

I would normally leave this up to my bitter rival as he is more in tune with the movie people, but in the interests of the academy, and this article, I have no choice. According to the daily fishwrap, there are many pressing measures on the table. What with the...I can't think more eloquently now...the idiots one...idiots too numerous to count(who throws ice at a cop)...or one of the most fucked up stories to come out of this fair city in a while.

Anyway, I agree with movie guy.

Though I did not see any of the other films, Not much makes me want to. Except for "A Serious Man" which will not win because it is a Cohen brother's movie.

So we are left with "The Hurt Locker." Despite the criticisms, I chose not to look for them because I am tired, and this is a good movie.

Yes...There are some really big artistic freedoms taken with it. As I stated the night I saw it. But it is not full of computer graphics, and is understandable by most people. These dudes hate what they are doing, but they do it anyway. Though "Generation Kill" is a much better depiction, it can't win this award.

The characters are real, the threat is real, and the reaction to that threat is well acted out and thoroughly believable. That reaction is what makes this movie badass. I can't imagine a bunch of "tree people" recreating this type of tension very well, and I can't imagine a movie with a shitload of gory violence drawing in viewers(ie everybody). This is why Hurt Locker is so good. Anyone from any walk of life can watch this movie and get it. It is very easy to identify with all of the characters, as everyone knows someone who has been through this type of situation.

There is no conclusion to this argument. Because the biggest grossing movie of all time will probably win. But that is because no one thinks of the marginally intelligent people anymore.

Snakes

All of them are. Big Russ is pretty much the only one who has stuck to his guns. Even more than W, which may be one of the only good qualities about the former POTUS.

This guy has around 4 houses, and pays taxes on one of them. And even that is suspect. Yet this lady still, still, sticks up for the cat.

She is not really saying that he is clean, but reminding us plebes that an aide said that...

"The speaker is totally behind him, and she told him that the last few times they have spoken."

There are sure to be implications from the right. But I am too tired to look for them. But the article mentions that the Hammer also came under fire, with no calling the pot black then by them. When I'm sure that this type of thing was going on.

Point is, reminding you of my former post, that they all do this. Conveniently forgetting when one side does it, but forcefully reminding us when the other side does the same.

The right cries about the size of government now, but had no problem with it a year ago, when it was larger than it ever had been. The left cries about needless wars now, but has no problem when more men are sent to the Middle East, to try to stop the "needless war".
