Some Dogs Dont Hunt

Did you cats read this one? Although rumors and conjecture are kinds of evidence, one part of the article stands out to me.
However, Justin Cooper, who edited Mr. Clinton's autobiography, My Life, and has remained close to the former president, said that Mr. Clinton was cautiously supportive of the prospect. "He's always had great admiration for Monica's abilities,"
This may be a bit low brow for a classy place like this, but come on. It sets itself up.

I Would Like to Add...

As per the previous post regarding movies. I would like to add this one, since it is on the comedy channel right now and I cant seem to turn the channel.

New and Improved

Hello ladies. Come on in and sit down. We here at Nice Weather in Milwaukee, have a new feature for you. Have a tasty glass of champagne and watch/listen and we will explain. Since the author seems to bust out large amounts of videos from time to time, we have decided that he should centralize the action. Since he generally tends to say that he "is going back to his roots," we thought that it would be better to restrict him, as he posts the same videos over and over again. So...hopefully he just does this on a weekly basis, with one or two videos, instead of a whole post dedicated to that dreadful punk rock, with the same videos over and over. If not, he will most for sure be sacked, and his 401K will not be valid.

(this is edgrimly talking) Fuck those producers and all of their ideas. Here is some of the best hippy band that nobody has ever heard of. And if you're lucky, some of that sweet down home punk rock you need.

I told you were lucky. I will lock myself in here if I have to. I dont have anything pressing to do anyway.
I dont like Boston, but I saw this dude onetime. He was riding the train.

I always wanted to be the Bosstone. Though I would get tired pretty quick.
And for those of you who remember when they were good.

Do You Think I Care What I Look Like?

Fun With Former VP Nominees

So stumbling around the Internets this afternoon, a came upon this one. While they have good articles sometimes, like when Alec Baldwin or Harry Shear write them, they are generally a bit too left for me. Case in point, the post mentioned above.

If you asked me a few months before the announcement of his running mate, I probably would have taken the wild card of saying Palin. That being said, isnt it kind of like beating a dead horse? I know that there are tons of things to pick on about the nice lady, but wait until she does something monumentally stupid, which is bound to happen sooner or later. Otherwise, we will become so desensatized to it, that it will no longer be funny.

On another note...after reading some of the comments...dont these people know that in order to eat most of the sweet delicious meat that comes from animals, they first have to be killed? I mean, bacon isnt born. They guy doing the killing that keeps looking at the camera is really funny as well.

Sense?

This makes no sense. But I would stay out of sector 21 as well. We all know what goes on there.

An ad for something?

I Would Stil Send Him Packing

Though a strong believer in all things Bill James, I have to disagree with his #1 ranking of the Prince as the number one player 29 or younger. Based on right now, as you existentialists like to say, this is true. But baseball is judged in the long term. Guys have unbelievable single seasons, and then go into the tank. Look at Bill Hall. Also, fat guys who mash dont age all that well. And he is only getting fatter, often having difficulty bending over to dig a ball out of the dirt.

This bodes well for the AL team that at some point in his career will inevitably pick him up, hopefully sooner than later, and hopefully for young pitching. But this is Milwaukee people. We play in the non-wuss league, where players like Craig Counsel and Jack Wilson have exuded gameyness since before God, and probably get paid as much. Look at Juan Pierre for the love of pete. I am under the opinion that in order to be a good ball player in the NL, you have to be a good baseball player, using as many of the 5 tools as possible all of the time. There is more to the game than hitting, though it is a pretty big part of it. Look at the chart before the one in question. That looks pretty bad. Even known fattys like El Caballo dont show up in the top, or bottom, ten players. Granted I will take 30-45 homers per year any day, but at the sacrifice of said bending over, or climbing the ladder to grab a high throw, or ranging to the right to get a hot grounder(as you know it is tough for Weeks to get there), or going to third on a single to right.

Fat guys who mash dont age all that well. In a couple more years of NL ball, the knees give out, random muscle injuries happen, and sooner or later walking is a lot tougher than eating. It is tough business playing 1st base every day. Ask Jeff Bagwell. But I digress.

Speaking of the big guy, did you see this one from baseball dude?

With the Cardinals finishing fourth, I voted Pujols seventh on my ballot. I don't consider MVP to be "the most outstanding player" award and therefore don't just go by who had the best stats. I like to credit players for lifting their teams to the post-season or at least keeping them in the race until the very end.

So one team finishes 86-75 because of the offensive prowess of one player, who plays a pretty good 1B by the way. The other wins the division with a 92-70 record because of a whole lineup that can hammer the ball. In fact, I would go on to say that Chase Utley is a better all around baseball player that Howard, despite Howards league leading 48 bombs. He - Utley - plays a decent 2b, and hits for more extra bases.

Now compare Howards line, with that of Pujols. Questions?

But the real problem is, voting Prince over the Hebrew Hammer, Senor baseball guy. If you are going to base MVP voting on hrs alone, like it looks like you did, who wins? Not to mention that fact that Braun was hurt for a big part of the season, and played better over 162 games. To quote an unpopular punk rock band of the late 90s, "I dont know what you've been smoking but pack another bowl for me."

UPDATE: I just noticed that baseball guy posted another one about why he voted the way he did. In his normal way, he was a bit angry at all of the dissension in the ranks.

I choose to not be a slave merely to statistics. If you want to pick the MVP solely on statistics every year, we can hire a statistical outlet to name the winner and just do away with balloting. We can call it "Most Outstanding Statstical Player." And, certainly, Pujols had great statistics, as he always does.

So the measure of how good a baseball player you are, numbers or how you perform, arent the most important thing? Thats like saying that because Anakin Skywalkers midiclorian count was higher than the Emperors, he isnt the chosen one. Or I Iike oranges better than apples because they make me feel better.

Movies that Must Be Watched

So Im sitting here in the batcave, and the Godfather is on. And I gets to thinking, which is scary in itself. There are movies out there that if they are on TV, I must watch them. Commercials and all. Despit the fact that I own most of them, and can watch them anytime.

1. Star Wars. Any of them. All six. Who doesnt want to go to Taschi Station to pick up some power converters anyway?

2. The Godfather. Except the third one. Even without the curse words, the scene where Pacino pops the mick police captain and the rival boss is bad ass.

3. The Longest Day. Come on, even Sean Connery has a bit part. And there is a Scot with a bulldog yelling at people.

4. Scarface. First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women. Another quelude, shell be back.

5. Bull Durham. Everybody has to channel their inner lava lizard like Fernando sometimes.

Though I wouldnt call some of them the best movies of all time, they are up there.

Good Night Sweet Prince

"After 21 years, and almost 40 million posts"...One of the better baseball/sports related blogs and it's writers have decided to hang up their respective keyboards as of yesterday. I will pour out a little liquor. After reading them for about 3 years, I think that they may have influenced my opinions about baseball more than any book or movie that I have ever read. To say that the ever consistent grinding, scraping, and gaminess of said Morgan, McCarver, hat guy, and others has won the day would be to trample on all that these cats cared about. Good luck and Godspeed.

So I Understand that come January, there will be a new cop on the beat. I get it. He wasnt my guy, and neither was the other one whom I did not vote for. But this is what the JSonline has on their page right now. I dont know if it will be there when you read this, but it was the lead story at 10:38pm this evening. Really? You are reporting that the man is buying his daughters a puppy? Do you want me to get you a puppy? You dont want to know how I get it, but I can get you a puppy.
Are there not more important things to talk about? Fucking Disney people. Ill say it again. Fucking Disney people. Wasting time on Whitehouse pets when Disney is losing money really pisses me off. Random Offseason Action

It seems that your Milwaukee Brewers have a new manager. If I dig him or not is the question. The question is if he leaves "Bushy" or "Soupcan" in in the 5th with the bases loaded and no outs. Word is he, Macha, was the tool that wielded Billy's idea. I will give him a month before I start to say things that dont really matter.

The option on the Couns was not picked up, but negotiations for a cheaper deal are still going on. This guy does a much better job of explaining the numbers than I can, but it makes a lot of sense. Though I hate to admit it, the sense that is. Dislike so much that I hope a younger version is available. And David Eckstain is bad at baseball.
As an unabashed fan of Craig Counsell, I admit, I'm a bit disappointed that the Crew did not pick up his option for next year. However, I realize that is a lot to pay a reserve infielder, especially one that's about my age and does not possess even a dash of pop in his bat.

However, I am happy they want Craig back, as they said they will try and negotiate a deal with him at a lower salary...Rotoworld on the sidebar guesses about $1.5-2M, which is probably about right. However, when one looks at how little offense the average 2B/SS provides, and then when you figure in Counsell's plus defense at all three infield skill spots, as well as his OBP skills, I would make the argument that Craig may indeed be worth about $3M...especially when you consider that there is little risk in a one-year contract.

Ave 2B---------.340/.409, 749 OPS
Ave SS---------.331/.398, 729
Craig, '08-----.355/.302, 657
Craig, career--.343/.344, 687

No doubt Counsell is below average, but if he wasn't, he'd be a starter somewhere.

Some folks feel Hall may be the main IF reserve next year, and considering his financial commitment, the Brewers may feel they do not have the capability of paying $10M to a pair of reserve infielders, and are looking to go cheap with the 2nd IF backup. Looking at the list of free agents, Felipe Lopez, who Doug has expressed interest in before, is available; as is Dave Eckstein. Both are solid players, but I have to believe both will get $3M or more a season, while providing an OBP number similar to Counsell in '08, with some doubles power.

Once again, someone else does a better job than I. I will bet you a shiny paper dollar that this guy is on the bench come April 1st.
