For this semi-regular installment, I went hunting around the internets for bands from my fair city. There are the obvious like the Bodeans, who are like nails on a chalkboard. And the Femmes. Here are some others, perhaps more modern.

The live ones all suck. But My buddy partied with them once in Madison. That was a long time ago.
They used to come to my college all the time. The one guy was cool...
As far as 90's pop goes, they were the best. the one CD I have from them is still good.
