So there is a lot of chatter on the JS Brewers blog comments about Manny Parra being in the starting rotation at the beginning of the season. For regular readers, this is a shame. Do Brewers fans in Milwaukee really want a guy who has only pitched 26 innings in the Major Leagues to start the season? I get it. He has been good this spring and in his cup of coffee last year, he pitched well. And he is a lefty. But look at his career as a whole...He was the end all be all when he was drafted, and never pitched a full season until after that. Except in some capacity in ought 6, as well as last season of course. Look folks, we are stuck with Busherino or Crappuano out of the gates. No questions, no answers, and no reason why. Neddy Bear wants it that way.
Let me ask you this...How awesome would it be if Sheets got hurt? Pretty shitty. How about if Parra came up in mid June to take his spot? See how nice that works out? At that point, we have Gallardo and Parra at the top of the rotation. Bad ass. Want to know why? Options, and a long history of injury. Does Nick Neugebauer ring a bell? Brought up to early, and now where is he...Bagging groceries, and thats the positive outlook.
Fucking take it easy people. The monster offense will take care of itself, and the revamped bullpen will make that a bit easier. Ask yourself if you want a one time shot, or a long haul winner. Then, look at how old Parra is. If he can get over the fragility that has plagued him in the past, he will be a great pitcher. Couple that with YoGo and Villenueva, and you have the makings of a good rotation for years to come.
Baseball is a marathon, and lots of things can happen. We have not started the season yet. Be patient...His day will come.
