But, on the plus side, Neddy Bear has one less call to make. I would rather he make the least amount of decisions possible, so thats a good thing. But in another of the venerable posts to his blog, the Brewer guy lays out this bad boy.
After Ben Sheets and Jeff Suppan, it appears Manny Parra, Dave Bush and Claudio Vargas are the front-runners. We expect to hear later today that Chris Capuano is going on the DL with an elbow problem, and Carlos Villanueva could be headed to Nashville to start there.(emphasis mine)
I dont know about you, but I would rather have the kid Parra start out at AAA. The great part about the pitching depth that the crew has is in fact that Parra is an actual big name prospect. He is young, he is good, and for the first time in his career he is not marred by injury. To put him under the command of Neddy Bear for an entire season a this point, would be like Dusty Bakerizing him. See Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. There is no need for him to pitch in the bigs this year unless something really bad happens. Villanueva on the other hand, has proven that he is a Major League starter. Out of the list above, excluding Parra, he has pitched the best. He is a team guy who was arguably the second best pitcher on the team last year. He deserves his chance. Parra's will be there for a while.

I read that in today's paper, or should say I had someone read it to me since I am illiterate. The Brewer's season went in the dump last year when they sent Villanueva down, then turned around when he came back up as a starter. Mark my word, it is the wrong decision to send him down. I predict that in 2 years he will be our #1 after Sheets walks, Suppan is older, and Gallardo peaks as a #2. Sad Day for Yost fans.
