Question

So the Brewers guy at the local daily proposed a question. The nice people at the JS allow comments to their blog which is nice. I do not comment on these blogs, as I do not like giving the old email to just anybody, and I do not like to be confused with the intellectual elite. Lets look at what we have.

Rickie Weeks was a boon of potential talent when drafted. Though his career has been marred by injury...yet another glass bodied Brewer...his numbers are kind of odd in a good way. Like taking your sisters best friend to the prom. He tends to get on base, and he tends to score lots of runs. I think that this is because he hits for power and is fast. IE, he gets hit by pitches, steals a base, and the scores on a sacrifice. Or he hits a home run. But he does not have a lot of those. So that means that he strikes out a lot. A lot. Is that how you want your lead off hitter to play?

Pitching wins championships. And right now, the pen looks like a sighning table at a card convention, which I have been to a couple of times. Obviously the hitting is there. They can score runs. At least against good pitching that is. Get me a reliever who is better than these guys, and you may, repeat may, just get me a W in the next three years. Note I did not say closer. Saves are over rated and expensive. Or just get me a real lead off hitter. Get on, move over, score..Every time, or at least most of the time.

Why is Bush and Mcclung even a choice. Those guys have done everything that has been asked of them (at least lately). What about Supcan? He sucks. Plus if it is a race at the end, the Brewers will go to a 4 man rotation in September. You might as well burn out Sheets and CC for their new teams next year.

My choice for biggest problem would be Bullpen. Those guys just suck. The Weeks situation can be fixed by batting him 8. Try something crazy like Hardy or even braun #1. The Brewers don't play small ball, they just need to get more men on base. Then put Branyan or Hall #3. Why not?
