Dont trade him, or release him, but something has to be done about Ben Sheets' glassiness. It seems that everyone else on the team has had a decent last couple of years injury wise. To make matters worse, he had to leave from a pulled hammy during his warm up...... By my count, the man has had 3 seasons with more than 25 starts, with more than 200 innings pitched. Granted, he has gives up 1.21 walks and hits per inning while striking out close to 8 guys per 9 innings. The culmination of the three aforementioned years in ought 4 when he was racking them up to the tune of 10 per nine. That being his best season to date, he had career highs in k's(264) as well as IP(237).
estrada just hit a grand slam.
Granted, he is 12 and 5 this year, which is not all that bad considering his 23 starts. The win total ties the old career high, but the K's are lacking, as are the IP due to time missed I suspect. But, it is his first winning season......
If the rest of the team has remained relatively injury free these past couple of years, what is the deal with the "ace." That is an overrated term to begin with because some people argued that Capuano was the "ace" coming into this season. That got him a trip to the ass end of the bullpen for those of you who have been paying attention. Not to say that Sheeter is heading to that sort of purgatory at all, just to say that maybe not being a fat bastard in the offseason may be a good idea. Look at Roger Clemens for goodness sake....he trains 365 and how often was he injured in his prime?
