The problem runs deeper than just an average (at best) ex-closer and a soft skipper who is afraid to make waves with his players. 1) Ol' Ned is in the midst of an eppic collapse (which we seem to witness every year with this team) and is hopping that remaining calm and "staying the course" is the sure-fire way to stop the slide, or atleast not make it any worse. We know how well staying the course works 2) Turnblow and the rest of the middle-releif saps have been collecting cobwebs in the bully because there hasen't been a need for the "solid" one two punch of Blow and Co-Co with all th early runs our aces Sheets, Cappy, and Sup have given up. 3) If there isn't a solid 8th inning setup guy, would it kill Co-Co to throw an extra inning? Seriously, what is his cost per pitch?
Although strategerically, it makes sense this evening, and your 2nd best..................9:59pm and Rickie Weeks has just hit a homer, for the tie.
To change the point of this post a bit.....
Anyway, when your 2nd best reliever comes in and is ineffective, it is interesting to see the Nedster and Coop going at it chess match-wise. And the best guy to bring in in that situation is Turnblow. So at this point, who do you want in that situation in the playoffs?
So now it is tied in the bottom of the ninth....same question. Out of the 25 guys, 12 in the pen.....who comes in? You cant let CoCo pitch, as he is the best pitcher out of the pen. Who is left? Vargas? Tough call. Discuss assuming that there are only 13 pitchers out there. The aforementioned comment is interesting in that respect.....Bonus Baseball?

With the game on the line in the 9th and 10th are idiot "manager" used SPurling and Wise. Arguably the two worst pitchers. Two pitchers that probably won't have Major League homes next year, and hopefully neither will Yost. With two weeks left allow your worthy pitchers to pitch until their arm falls off.
Cecil Cooper already a better manager than Yost??
